Rails-based Flash Card App Online

I recently finished my first version release for a study aide app I use for learning Spanish. It mimics how one uses flashcards to memorize vocabulary. Access it here. You can create your own quizes but you first need to create an account. Though basic right now, I plan on adding more features to it:

• Quizes will remember what you got right and wrong, allowing you to be retested on only the one you missed.
• Save quiz results and report on quiz statistics

A friend of mine, Jun-Dai, confirmed that you can use it for Japanese as well. The trickiest bit was gracefully dealing with users hitting the back button in the browser during a quiz. More work needs to be done to make this totally fool proof. As my Spanish teacher says: "Poco a Poco". I used Ruby On Rails to build the app and have to say I'm very impressed by the technology.  In the past I would have fired up Eclipse and started writing Interfaces, many classes, used the thick Java Web App stack (Spring, Hibernate, one of the controller frameworks; Spring MVC; Tapestry; JSF; or just plain JSP), XDoclet, etc, and modified all of the XML config files that glued the different frameworks together, then written tons of JUnit test cases to ensure everything worked as expected.  Thankfully, with Rails you can ignore all of that and focus on writing the code specific to your business problem, all of those frameworks are baked into Rails. One of the best things about Rails is that it encourages you to develop correctly: write your test cases first, then code.  Even mock object support is in Rails so you can say goodbye to frameworks like jmock or Easymock. I know that all my future personal projects will be developed using Rails and I hope that Rails' popularity makes it more acceptable for Enterprise applications.  With app servers like Lighttpd and Mongrel, performance issues can be addressed.
